Recruiting Staff

Short Applicents

-This can be difficult as employees are provided with so many CV's that making a decision can be hard that's why having a well documented JD and person spec avoids selecting the wrong staff.

Interviews

-Once you have shortlisted your applicents you must interview them asking questions about there previous worklife, achivements etc. Some companies will also use phycometrical testing a persons charecters

Training Staff

This is a key component of any HR plan as often determined the sucess of an application job
On the job training - Experienced staff members train new recruits on how to complete a job
            Inductions training - Basic induction to the business the people you are working with and the facilities of a business
            Of the job training - Sending staff to devalopment courses to up skill in a new area (motivational tool)

Devalopment and Appraisal

Enrusring staff see a pathway of an orginisation is crucical because they wil be more willing to put the hours into reach the next level

Employment Contract

All businesses are required by law to provide all employees with an employment contract. They typically outline what the employee will be paid and their hours

Marketing

Not just advertising and selling

Definition

  • The management task that links business to the customer by idenitifying and meeting the needs of the customer profibility. It does this by getting the right product at the right place at the right price at the right time

  • The place where buyers and sellers meet to exchange - e.g. shopping centers, fruit and vege market and the internet

  • Also refers to groups of consumers that this is interested in a product can legally purchased is and has the resources to produce

  • Consumer market = a market for goods and services bought buh the final user

  • Industrial market - Selling Goods and servives the B2B market

Factors that Determine Objectives

  • Corporate culture, a code behaviour and attitudes that influence the decision making of managers the size of the legal form of a business, a small business may be concerned with making enough profit to be comfortable where as a large organisation may want to increase market share

  • The number of years the business has been operating - survival vs profit

Business Ethics

  • The moral Guidelines that determine decisions made
  • e.g sweat shops in china or nike making shoes in third world countries
  • Bribes for buying of a suppplier

Sole Traders and Partnerships

Sole Trader

  • A business in which one person provides the permanent finance
  • They have full control of the bsiness
  • Keep all Profits
  • Unlimited liability
  • Common business type - hair dresses, builders. retail shopts etc

Partnership

  • A business formed by two or more people to carry on business together, with shared capital
  • Can have any number of partners between 1-30
  • Unlimited liability
  • Business debts and errors are felt by all partners
  • Commen Busisness - Law and Accounting firms
  • Most partnerships have an agreement detailing what each partners right, responsibilities and profits are

Stake Holders

Definition: People or groups of people who can be affected by and therefore have an interest in an action by an organisation

Businesses have a wide spread responsibility to a lot of different people.

Who are Stakeholders?

  • Custurmers
  • suppliers
  • employees
  • local community
  • goverment
  • shareholders
